Driving
the #74 JJS Web Hosting Monte Carlo is Atlanta, Georgia's Chris Blalock.
Chris
got an early start in the front seat of fast cars. On May 22, 1967 he was
born in the front seat of a brand new Ford Galaxy in Norfolk, Va.
"I have lived all over the USA and even though I am living in Georgia,
I claim Oklahoma and Texas as home," says Chris. "Did I mention
the Ford was new? Dad had fun cleaning that up." :-)
Chris
got his start in cyber racing with EA sports release of Nascar 99, and Gran Tourismo
for the Playstation. "I
just couldn't get enough," explains Chris, "I would run 100%
races with the AI turned turned up to 110% strength, and I can't count how
many full season I ran. I also give credit to the game Gran Tourismo for
getting me started on learning road racing."
It
was about this same time Chris entered world of computer/Papyrus racing and
started racing N2 on Ten, but it was only a few months later that Ten shut down
due to the release of N3, with it's own multiplayer built in.
With
the release of N3, Chris hosted a fixed setup series for the NSRL, and it was
there that he won his first championship. Winning that championship got
him invited to run in the NSRL's top division, and racing with the likes of
Billy Murphy, Darrell Young, and Rick Everett. "My
rookie season was not a stellar one, but I was happy to finish in the top 10 in
points, and the quality of the racing was better than anything I had
experienced. I still race there today and with a great start to the
current season I am looking to win my first championship there."
Chris
also runs in the Flashpoint Sunday Pro Series, where he won a Championship in
the summer of 2002, and remains a threat to repeat, running in the top 5 every
season.
When
Joe Lomas brought OSCAR back into existence, Chris was seeded in the Sportsmen 4
division, with the likes of Rick Everett and Kevin Debello. He ended up
winning the championship, and taking the points lead away from Rick in the final
race of the season at Lowes Motor Speedway.
Winning
the Sportsman 4 division then got him seeded into the Freedom Cup; OSCAR's top
division. Chris
has 2 wins there and in his first 2 seasons he has finished in the top 10 in
points both times.
The
off season brought a team change for Chris, he is now a proud member of
Excalibur. “I am
very happy to be teamed with Jeff Russell and the rest of the gang at Excalibur,
we are really working well together to take it to the next level"
"I
really look forward to having a lot of fun in the RacersOnline Cup Series. The
driver roster is second to none and I know Bill and Giles do a great job with
this league."
Chris
made a limited appearance in the ROL Cup Series in 2002, but devoted to run
full-time in 2003 where he finished 6th in the standings, and earned the
nickname "Bridesmaid Blalock" with 4 second place finishes.
Chris will be a strong contender for the 2004 Championship while searching for
that elusive first win.
